Ms. Dang Thi Xuan used to be a Tuong artist in Ho Chi Minh City, but later she switched to working as a costumer backstage, specializing in costumes for artists on the Tuong stage. Ms. Xuan has taken care of costumes for hundreds of Tuong artists, including many very famous artists.

Ms. Dang Thi Xuan's life was attached to the stage all her life and when People's Artist Phung Ha built the City Artists' Nursing Center in District 8, Ms. Xuan was one of the first people to live there. She considered the Nursing Center not only a place to rest but also a common home for artists, where she took part in taking care of elderly artists and participating in artistic exchange performances here. According to many artists who lived with her, Ms. Xuan lived a gentle, kind life, always enthusiastically helping people.

After moving to Thi Nghe Nursing Home with other artists, due to diabetes and kidney disease, Ms. Xuan's health was quite weak and she had to receive regular treatment.

Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, who lived close to Ms. Xuan, said that more than a month ago, Ms. Xuan fell and had to stay in one place, and the center assigned staff to take care of her. However, due to her old age and poor health, at 2:48 p.m. on October 22, Ms. Xuan passed away at the age of 78.

Because she had no children or relatives living nearby, the Artists' Association (under the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association) coordinated with the Thi Nghe Nursing Center to organize the funeral for Ms. Dang Thi Xuan. According to her wishes, Ms. Dang Thi Xuan's ashes were sent to the church after cremation.

Thus, since moving to the new residence at Thi Nghe Nursing Center, two veteran artists, artist Ngoc Be and now Ms. Dang Thi Xuan, have passed away. Currently, Thi Nghe Nursing Center still has artists Ngoc Dang, Dieu Hien, Lam Son, Mac Can and Huynh Thanh Tra.
