Quang Binh Dong Hoi Airport will invest in building a new passenger terminal T2, increasing the number of aircraft parking positions from 4 to 8, and expanding the area by 15 hectares.

On March 4, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province and the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) agreed to build the T2 passenger terminal and expand the Dong Hoi airport apron to increase the capacity to 3 million passengers/year (currently 0.5 million). The total investment capital of the project is more than VND 1,840 billion from ACV's capital.

ACV is expected to begin expanding the aircraft parking lot in August and put it into operation in March 2025; start construction of Terminal T2 in October and complete it in March 2026. To ensure progress according to plan, ACV proposes to receive the handover of cleared land before June.

Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of Quang Binh Province, assessed that the construction of Terminal T2 and expansion of Dong Hoi Airport's parking lot is an important project. The province will focus on site clearance and create all conditions for ACV to implement the project. He hopes that ACV will soon select a contractor to implement the project on schedule.

Located in Loc Ninh commune, about 6 km from Dong Hoi city center, Dong Hoi airport was built by the French in the 1930s, upgraded and used during the Vietnam War. In 2006, the airport was rebuilt and put into use since 2008.
