Police forces urgently embark on search and rescue missions in Myanmar

After arriving at Yangon International Airport on the evening of March 30, the Vietnamese rescue team quickly settled in and organized forces to begin their mission to help overcome the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.

That very night, the group traveled by car hundreds of kilometers to reach the capital Naypyidaw at dawn on March 31.

After meeting with the coordinating force, the authorities and the police force were the first to arrive at the scene to search and rescue.

Morning temperatures here quickly reached 35 degrees Celsius, and are forecast to rise to 40 degrees by midday to early afternoon.

The 26-member working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security went to Myanmar to participate in the search for people, medical examination and treatment, and to overcome the consequences and damage caused by the earthquake. The delegation was led by Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security).

Using wall-penetrating radar to find victims

Immediately after arriving in Naypyidaw, the head of the Vietnamese rescue team had a quick meeting with representatives of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Department, Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar - responsible for directing the rescue position of Vietnam, and Mr. Heu Kyaw Soe Win - Minister of Tourism and Hotels of Myanmar.

Vietnamese rescue forces arrived, surveyed the scene, assessed the number of people trapped, and used wall-penetrating radar and specialized audio and visual search equipment to locate victims in Myanmar.

The Vietnamese rescue forces traveled by car nearly 500km to reach the capital Naypyidaw at 3am on March 31. The team quickly settled in, organized field reconnaissance forces and carried out the search for victims.

The Vietnamese military force divided into 3 groups, coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security delegation to search in 3 directions as quickly as possible.

Vietnam's rescue force sent 10 military and police officers and soldiers, including deputy head of the team and team leaders of the search teams, to conduct field reconnaissance.

After understanding the specific situation of the area and the number of suspected victims still trapped, the rescue team continued to send a team of engineers to rescue the collapsed structure, using a wall-penetrating radar detection system and image and sound search equipment to accurately determine the location of the victims.

30 military medical officers are also ready to form a small-scale treatment team, capable of performing both medical and surgical first aid to serve the victims as well as the people in the area.

Previously, the Vietnamese rescue team presented 30 tons of dry food to Myanmar representatives to support earthquake victims.

The first mission site of the group was about 20 minutes away from the base. The scene was a 3-storey building that had completely collapsed over an area of ​​200m².

According to information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, in front of this house there is a man over 60 years old trapped, behind the building there is a woman about 30 years old.

Mobile police mobilized police dogs to the scene for search and rescue.

After analyzing the signs at the scene, the authorities discovered the murder weapon.

Inside the ruined house, the floor was torn up after the terrible earthquake on March 28, sniffer dogs searched for missing people.

The scene is described as a scene of devastation. The police force closely coordinated with the army, trying to overcome difficulties with the spirit of "helping friends as helping ourselves".

The sweltering heat is a major challenge for rescue efforts. It also causes the victims' bodies to decompose more quickly, making identification difficult.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck early in the afternoon of March 28 in the northwest of Sagaing City, central Myanmar. Just minutes later, a 6.7-magnitude aftershock continued to shake the area.

The earthquake flattened homes, collapsed bridges and cracked roads across Myanmar. Mandalay - the country's second-largest city with more than 1.7 million people - was among the hardest hit.
