
On the morning of August 21, heavy rain fell over a wide area in the Northeast region, especially in Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh provinces and part of Thai Nguyen province. It has not rained yet in Hanoi but the sky is cloudy, it could rain at any time. Many areas in the Northeast of Bac Ninh province have recorded flooding, landslides and local traffic disruptions.
Updated data from the Vrain automatic rain gauge system as of 8:00 a.m. on August 21 shows that the rainfall in Bac Ninh province as of this morning was 140mm, followed by Tuyen Quang: 122mm and Thai Nguyen : 115mm.

According to the people in Bac Ninh province, from last night to the morning of August 21, the communes of Son Dong, Dai Son, Yen Dinh, Tuan Dao, Tay Yen Tu... experienced heavy to very heavy rain. By 6 am, Tay Yen Tu commune was flooded with all 16 overflow tunnels of 3 villages, completely cutting off traffic. Water flooded into houses in Thong Nhat village (Tay Yen Tu commune).

In the communes of Son Dong, Yen Dinh, Tuan Dao and Dai Son in the northeast of Bac Ninh province (bordering Quang Ninh province), the flood rose rapidly, forcing the commune authorities to urgently notify people and organize the evacuation of households living along rivers, streams and areas at risk of landslides. By 7 am, landslides had occurred at several points on National Highway 31 and Provincial Road 291, causing traffic hazards.
In Tuan Dao commune, floodwaters are rolling in due to heavy rain. Many fields are submerged. Authorities are mobilizing to deal with the situation.

As of 8:00 a.m. on August 21, no casualties have been reported. The Tuan Dao Commune authorities advised people not to cross tunnels or streams when the water is flowing rapidly, to proactively move away from low-lying areas, and to continuously monitor weather warnings to ensure safety.

Authorities and meteorological experts warn that heavy rains will continue in the midlands and deltas of the North, with Thai Nguyen and Bac Ninh experiencing heavy rains that could spread to Hanoi and Hung Yen.
Meanwhile, the Central region will be sunny but there may be localized thunderstorms in the late afternoon. Provinces from Binh Dinh to the South, including the Central Highlands, will continue to have heavy rain due to the East wind bringing a large amount of moisture from the East Sea to the mainland.
