This achievement helps Tien Anh qualify for the second stage of the tournament, where he will compete for a specific ranking to aim for a ticket to the Asian finals.
In the opening match of Group F, on August 18 in China, Tien Anh excellently defeated the second seed Singh Ranvir (India) in the opening match with a score of 2-1 (6-3, 5-7, 6-2).
Le Tien Anh won all 3 group stage matches.
The following day, the young Vietnamese player continued to create surprises when he defeated the 7th seed Bang John Hyun Gyum (Korea) with a score of 2-1 (5-7, 7-6, 6-2). Closing the group stage this afternoon, August 20, Tien Anh easily defeated Tsz Ho Lai (Hong Kong - China) 2-0 (6-0, 6-0).
The regional qualifying tournament consists of two stages. The first round-robin stage has concluded, and Tien Anh will now move on to the second stage – the ranking stage, where players compete for positions from 1st to 24th. Tien Anh’s opponent will be determined by a draw tomorrow.
The top two qualifiers in singles will qualify for the Roland Garros Junior Series Asia Wild Card Tournament in Japan (October 13-17).
