Establish a working group to implement traffic projects connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai

Leaders of the two localities basically agreed on the necessity of investing in transportation projects including the Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge, Phu My 2 bridge and Dong Nai 2 bridge.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just announced the conclusions of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai at a working session on planning and investing in traffic construction connecting the two localities.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai agreed to assign the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction of Dong Nai and related units to establish a working group to implement the traffic connection project.

The working group is headed by the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the Director of the Dong Nai Department of Construction as deputy head, and the members are leaders of the departments and branches of the two localities.

The working group will develop regulations, functions, and operational plans, prioritize highly feasible projects, and allocate a list of key projects for the 2026-2030 period, ensuring consistency under the direction of leaders of both sides.

Leaders of the two localities also basically agreed on the necessity of investing in building bridges to replace Cat Lai ferry, Phu My 2 and Dong Nai 2 bridge.

In which, the Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge project and Dong Nai 2 bridge are managed by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, while Phu My 2 bridge is implemented by Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The Department of Construction of the two localities is required to coordinate with relevant agencies to carry out the next steps.

Regarding the construction of the railway connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh airport, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai province assigned the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City to urgently preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and units to implement in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister ; advise and propose to the City.

Regarding the development of public passenger transport, the Department of Construction of the two localities continues to follow the direction of local leaders; at the same time, coordinate and unify to advise and propose the People's Committees of the two localities to consider and decide according to regulations.

Scale of transport projects connecting two localities

The Phu My 2 Bridge project has its starting point at Nguyen Huu Tho Street (HCMC), its end point connecting to Road 25C (Dong Nai Province) with a total investment of about 21,484 billion VND.

Cat Lai Bridge has a total investment of 19,500 billion VND, Dong Nai 2 Bridge has a preliminary total investment of about 10,945 billion VND. All three bridges have a scale of 8 lanes.

Regarding the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway project (3.5 billion USD), the Ministry of Construction recently proposed that the Prime Minister assign Ho Chi Minh City as the managing agency to synchronously invest in connecting Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh airport.
