According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Luc district, up to now, the salinity on rivers, canals, and inland streams in the district is still low. Therefore, the agricultural production situation is basically guaranteed, and there have been no recorded impacts due to drought or saltwater intrusion . However, some households in communes at the end of the water source such as Thanh Hoa, Thanh Loi, etc. have experienced local water shortages during peak hours.

In addition, the district also proposed to support the salvage of water hyacinth on intra-field canals to serve water regulation and waterway traffic.

Checking salinity of canals in Ben Luc district

Similarly, in Thu Thua district, at this time, salinity on rivers, canals and ditches is still low so crops are not affected.

However, according to information from the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment, about 569 hectares of crops are at risk of being affected if salinity increases and penetrates deep into the fields.

Regarding domestic water, people in the district mainly use underground water and water from Nhi Thanh Water Plant, so they are not affected by drought or saltwater intrusion.

Water resources in canals and ditches in Thu Thua district are still abundant, ensuring production.

To ensure agricultural production in the face of complicated developments of natural disasters, especially drought and saltwater intrusion , the People's Committee of Thu Thua district proposed that the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment consider investing in four urgent irrigation projects in Tan Thanh commune, namely Rach San sluice; Lo Duong sluice; dredging and repairing dykes combined with rural roads on the southern bank of canal 12 and dredging and repairing dykes combined with rural roads on the western bank of Ranh canal.
