Exploiting potential well for sustainable development

Over the past 5 years, agriculture has continued to develop quite well, gradually going into depth with many effective models. People have boldly transformed the structure of crops and livestock to adapt to climate change; especially focusing on developing safe, organic agriculture, linking production with value chains. Cooperatives and cooperative groups have been consolidated and improved, creating favorable conditions for linking production and consumption of agricultural products. Disease prevention work on crops and livestock has been given regular attention, helping to stabilize production and increase income for people.

The highlight is the strong development of coconut products - the main crop of the locality. From rice, shell, shell to coconut water, all are exploited to the maximum value with many diverse processed products, creating jobs for rural workers. The program "One Commune One OCOP Product" achieved outstanding results with 23 certified products, of which 21 products achieved 3-star OCOP, 2 OCOP products achieved 4-star. This is proof of Thanh Thoi's right direction in increasing the value of agricultural products associated with the market.

Along with agriculture, the industrial and handicraft sectors have developed steadily. Many enterprises have invested in renovating machinery and equipment, improving product quality. Up to now, the commune has 74 enterprises and more than 1,511 production and business establishments, contributing to promoting the local economy . Trade and services have also developed significantly. The business system is increasingly diverse, meeting the consumption and shopping needs of the people. Some types of e-commerce have been initially deployed, opening up a new direction for the local economy. In particular, eco-tourism activities at Thanh Long islet have initially attracted visitors, creating a premise for Thanh Thoi to exploit the tourism potential associated with culture and river gardens.

Comrade Tran Quoc Cuong - Chairman of Thanh Thoi Commune People's Committee said: "During the term, many key projects were invested, upgraded, completed, and the rural appearance improved significantly. Infrastructure for transportation, health care, education , irrigation, electricity, cultural houses, schools, etc. were focused on, practically serving socio-economic development. Emulation movements, especially "New Dong Khoi" were widely deployed, contributing to changing awareness and raising people's responsibility in building new rural areas".

Entering the 2025-2030 term, Thanh Thoi commune is facing new opportunities and challenges after merging the three communes of Thanh Thoi A, Thanh Thoi B and An Thoi. With its central location in the province, with National Highway 57, National Highway 60, bypass and Co Chien River passing through, Thanh Thoi is identified as a potential land for developing high-tech agriculture, industry - handicrafts and eco-tourism.

The Party Committee of the commune has set out the development viewpoint: Promoting solidarity, self-reliance, and creativity; promoting the exploitation of advantages; developing organic and high-tech agriculture; enhancing the value of coconut trees with the goal of reaching 3,203 hectares of coconut area by 2030, of which 40% of the organic area is linked to sustainable consumption.

Important economic indicators are identified: the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increases by an average of 3%/year; industry and handicrafts increase by 12%/year; total retail sales of goods and service revenue increase by 12%/year; 50 new enterprises and 300 individual business households are established; budget revenue increases by over 7%/year. Average income per capita strives to reach 151 million VND by 2030.

To achieve the goal, the commune focuses on three breakthroughs: Promoting the application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; developing high-quality human resources, building a team of cadres at par with the target; perfecting socio-economic infrastructure, especially transportation and technological infrastructure to serve green development and adapt to climate change.

Comrade Nguyen Quoc Hung - Secretary of Thanh Thoi Commune Party Committee affirmed: “The achievements of the past term are an important foundation for Thanh Thoi Commune to confidently enter a new stage of development. With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", the Party Committee and People of the Commune are determined to build Thanh Thoi into a center for trading and processing coconut products of the province, as well as a typical eco-tourism destination, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the local socio-economy, meeting the aspirations of rising up in the new era. At the same time, Thanh Thoi Commune is determined to successfully implement the construction of an advanced new-style rural commune in the period of 2026-2030".
