According to AppleInsider , the latest statistics released on Apple's developer website on June 1 offer positive prospects for iOS 16. Across all active iPhone models, the figures show that 81% are running iOS 16. Meanwhile, 13% are running iOS 15 and 6% are running unspecified older versions.

Also according to Apple, for iPhone models introduced in the past four years alone, 90% of them had iOS 16 installed as of June 1. The remaining numbers include 8% running iOS 15 and 2% running older versions.

Apple will release iOS 16 in September 2022. The latest version of Android that corresponds to this time frame is Android 12, which was released in October 2022. Android Central notes that Android 12 adoption doubled from January to April 2023, to 12.1%. This isn't too surprising, as Apple has traditionally seen more adoption of the latest version of iOS than Android. However, the success of iOS 16 is important because iOS 15's upgrade performance has been disappointing.

As for iPadOS 16, Apple says adoption of the update has increased significantly, with the latest data revealing that 71% of all active iPads are now running the version. That marks a notable increase from the previous reported adoption rate of 50% in February 2023.

Additionally, when looking at iPads released in the last four years, 76% of them are currently running iPadOS 16. By comparison, 18% of those iPads are still running iPadOS 15, while 6% are on an older version. This represents a significant increase from the 53% adoption rate reported in February. One reason for the low iPadOS 16 adoption rate in early 2023 could be that the Stage Manager release was buggy, but Apple has since updated and improved the feature.
