Spider-Man 2 developer Insomniac Games has reportedly been hit by a cyberattack that could expose sensitive data about the company, its employees, and upcoming games, according to VGC .

According to a report by Cyber ​​Daily, the Rhysida ransomware group has released data online in an attempt to back up its claim that it has successfully hacked the Sony-owned studio. The data released by the hacking group includes an annotated screenshot from Insomniac Games' upcoming Wolverine game, along with images of other Marvel characters that will appear in the title.

Rhysida also released scans of employee passports, a personal document related to Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, internal emails, and other confidential documents. The hackers are threatening to release the stolen data within seven days, but are also holding an auction for the data with a starting price of 50 Bitcoin (about $2 million).

Insomniac's Wolverine game was announced in September 2021, alongside the recently released Spider-Man 2. Although set in the same universe as the Spider-Man games, Wolverine is billed as a standalone game directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, the creative leads of Spider-Man Miles Morales .

Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a statement to VGC that it is looking into reports of the incident. “We are aware of reports that Insomniac Games has been the victim of a cyberattack,” the company said. “We are currently investigating and believe that no other divisions of SIE or Sony were affected by this attack.”
