More than 3,200 billion invested in the cargo transit area bordering China

The 3,200 billion VND cargo transit project bordering China will complete phase 1 and put into use in 2025.

On December 3, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committee of Lang Son province to organize a forum connecting import and export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products between Vietnam and China.

What items are exported to China?

Deputy Head of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board Hoang Khanh Duy said that up to now, the average number of vehicles carrying import and export goods through the province has reached 1,300 vehicles/day, an increase of 18.2% compared to 2023.

Total import-export turnover in 2024 is estimated to reach more than 66 billion USD, an increase of over 27% over the same period.

Some high export turnover items are durian 330,000 tons (worth over 1.4 billion USD), dragon fruit more than 450,000 tons (worth about 280 million USD), jackfruit 280,000 tons (worth 200 million USD)...

In the period 2008 - 2023, more than 12,200 billion VND was invested in building and developing infrastructure in the border gate area, thereby completing traffic works, office building systems, and specialized roads for transporting goods, making them basically complete, synchronous, modern, and effective.

"The cargo transit area project in Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone is expected to complete phase 1 and put into use in the first quarter of 2025 with a scale of about 58 hectares," said Mr. Duy.

The above project has a total investment of more than 3,200 billion VND, including transit and logistics services such as regular container yard - refrigerated container, bulk cargo warehouse - cold storage, bonded warehouse - storage of temporarily imported and re-exported goods...

Commitment to support investment in import and export of goods

Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Luong Trong Quynh said that trade, border gate economy and supporting services are identified as key economic sectors.

The province has implemented many solutions to support import and export, especially agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

For example, the province increased investment in infrastructure and upgraded transportation, such as the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway or the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang section of the Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway.

According to Mr. Quynh, the province also plans to connect with logistics service areas to increase the efficiency of international transportation, expand and upgrade border gate/warehouse infrastructure, international cargo storage centers, etc.

The province also implemented a pilot project to build smart border gates, aiming towards automation and 24/7 customs clearance.

Lang Son also strengthens cooperation with Guangxi province (China) in increasing import-export efficiency, exchange, trade promotion, and expanding consumer markets...

The leader of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee stated that the province is committed to supporting investment, production, business, import and export activities and building a civilized and friendly business environment.

China increases imports of Vietnamese durian

According to Mr. Chau Binh - representative of Chongzuo city, Guangxi, China, in the first 10 months of 2024, the trade turnover between Chongzuo city and Vietnam reached more than 129 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6% over the same period.

Of which, Vietnamese fruits are favored by Chinese consumers, with more than 700,000 tons imported through the city's border gates alone. Vietnamese durian increased sharply, reaching over 400,000 tons, up 10.2% over the same period.
