Major of the National Defense Forces Tran Ngoc Anh bravely saved people in the raging water.

At about 8:15 a.m. on August 8, Mr. Trong and his wife were driving to the market and returning to the Ngam bridge area in Dong But village, Yen Binh commune when they were suddenly knocked down by a strong current, sweeping away both themselves and their vehicle.

Major Tran Ngoc Anh received a certificate of merit from the People's Committee of Yen Binh commune ( Lang Son ) for his brave act of rescuing people in rushing water.

At this moment, Major Tran Ngoc Anh, a welder of the 1st Mechanical Team, Regiment 664, Petroleum Department (General Department of Logistics and Engineering) was on his way to carry out a mission and was moving near Ngam Bridge when he discovered Mr. Trong and his wife in trouble. Without hesitation, Major Tran Ngoc Anh and a local resident quickly jumped into the water to save them. Discovering that Mr. Trong was swept away by the water at the foot of the bridge and was in danger of drowning, with determination and swimming skills, comrade Ngoc Anh tried to approach and used many solutions to bring the victim to shore safely.

After reaching the shore, he continued to discover Mr. Trong's wife struggling in the middle of the river. At this time, a local person swam out to save her but was also swept away, exhausted, and could only cling to the tree trunk. The situation was extremely dangerous, so comrade Ngoc Anh asked for help from a local person on the shore to throw a rope, then bravely swam out, and helped both people to safety.

The brave action of Major Tran Ngoc Anh was greatly admired by the people. Lieutenant Colonel Le Quoc Tuan, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Regiment 664, said: "The action of Major Tran Ngoc Anh to save people is very commendable. In an emergency situation, if you are not brave and do not have good swimming skills, it will be difficult to save people successfully; it may even endanger your own life."

The brave action of Major Tran Ngoc Anh was awarded a certificate of merit by the People's Committee of Yen Binh commune; was praised by the head of the General Department of Logistics and Technology and recommended to the Minister of National Defense for consideration of awarding a certificate of merit.
