The 7th Phu Dong Sports Festival of Quang Tri Province in 2024 with the theme "Proud of the homeland's traditions, Quang Tri school youth promote the spirit of Phu Dong to conquer the peak of knowledge, join hands to protect peace" officially ended with many brilliant successes. This is a Phu Dong Sports Festival with the strong colors of school sports with a large scale and high professional quality, leaving many good impressions, many unforgettable emotions and memories; creating momentum to promote the physical education and school sports movement of Quang Tri to develop to a new level.

Professional and well-organized work

Head of the Secondary Education - Continuing Education Division, Department of Education and Training (DET) Le Van Tinh said that the DET has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan to direct the organization of Phu Dong Sports Festivals at all levels in order to prepare well for participating in the provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival. The Provincial People's Committee has promptly established the Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival Steering Committee, and proactively held Steering Committee meetings and assigned specific tasks to departments, branches and sectors.

The coordination between the members of the Organizing Committee (OC) is smooth, tight and timely. Regarding athlete records and competition organization, the Department of Education and Training has designed software for registering athlete records to ensure scientificity; registration is entered online on the software system, thereby creating favorable conditions for registration units; the online collection and submission of records helps save travel time for units, saves costs on document procedures, ensures strictness in athlete personnel management, and digitizes athlete information.

The work of checking the athlete registration records is strictly ensured, after checking, the information is provided to the units to promptly adjust and supplement the records before conducting the professional meeting and drawing lots for the competition. The Organizing Committee conducts the meeting to unify the professional and draw lots for the competition on the software system to ensure fairness, objectivity and transparency.

The referee teams promptly developed a scientific competition schedule, and at the same time informed the participating units, creating conditions for the units to be proactive in arranging the athletes' competitions. To ensure the facilities for the competition, the Department of Education and Training has reviewed the quantity and list of equipment and supplies for the competition, prepared appraisal records, and invited bids in accordance with regulations. The Phu Dong Sports Festival Organizing Committee has inspected and reviewed the conditions of the facilities, security and order, traffic safety, health care, etc. to ensure the safety of the athletes throughout the competition.

Many marks of professional quality

The 7th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival organized 11 sports competitions, taking place in 2 sessions in Dong Ha City. In which, session 1 was from March 27-31, session 2 was from April 8-12; there were 3,201 athletes participating from 9 Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, cities, 32 high schools, 2 centers of vocational education and continuing education in Vinh Linh district and Dong Ha City; there were 248 sets of medals awarded.

Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Thi Huong said that it can be affirmed that this is a Phu Dong Sports Festival with high professional quality. That shows that the units have invested in athletes to train seriously, thoughtfully, systematically and with high determination in competition. After 11 days of exciting competition, with the spirit of solidarity, honesty and nobility, the athletes have made efforts, competed persistently with high determination and contributed many good matches, breaking many records. The competitions are highly appreciated in terms of expertise such as: volleyball, elementary school football, athletics, swimming, Karate...

In particular, for the first time being officially organized, Karate was highly appreciated for its expertise and professionalism in organization and management. Through the competitions, many outstanding athletes were discovered for the physical education and school sports movement, including 8 athletes breaking records in athletics and swimming; 13 excellent athletes won 2-3 medals of various types in many competitions in swimming, table tennis, and athletics.

Regarding refereeing, the Organizing Committee mobilized nearly 300 referees with good expertise from the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In particular, the Karate martial arts department invited 1 international referee and 8 national referees along with the referee team from the Provincial Karate Federation to officiate the competition. With a spirit of dedication, fairness, objectivity and accuracy, the referee team completed their tasks well, contributing to creating a successful Phu Dong Sports Festival in terms of expertise.

Information and propaganda work on the Phu Dong Provincial Sports Festival was focused on with many rich and diverse forms. Notably, Quang Tri Newspaper and Quang Tri Radio and Television organized a livestream of the opening ceremony and continuously provided information about the competitions. At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 21 First, Second, Third, and Encouragement flags to the whole delegation; awarded 87 First, Second, and Third prize flags to the team; and commended 8 athletes who competed well and broke records in swimming and athletics. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training awarded certificates of merit to many groups and individuals.

The success of the Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival is not only about numbers and competition achievements, but also about the convergence of hearts, sense of responsibility, high solidarity and dedication, and close coordination of participating forces. Through the 7th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival, many excellent athletes have been discovered, achieving high results. This is an important basis for selecting athletes to participate in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 with high results.
