One of the expansion joint locations was repaired last night and completed early this morning (May 8).

Expansion joints are the joints between the girders of the elevated Ring Road 3 viaduct. After a period of use and high traffic volume, some expansion joints have been damaged and cracked.

After several times of being repaired by the road maintenance unit by welding and patching with layers of raw concrete, expansion joints were created to create rough edges and mounds higher than the road surface.

This is both dangerous for vehicles on Ring Road 3 and causes traffic congestion during rush hour.

After receiving feedback from drivers and public opinion, the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Transport directed relevant functional units to carry out systematic and synchronous repairs.

The area with the most damaged expansion joints is at pillars T260, T275, T290... from Mai Dich to Phap Van.

On the night of May 7, the Hanoi Department of Transport temporarily closed the road so that vehicles and construction workers could dig up the roadbed and reinstall new expansion joints and standard expansion joints...

Then, the construction unit put the asphalt carpet on top, creating a flat roadbed.

By this morning (May 8), the locations of the expansion joints that created bumps in the Mai Dich - Phap Van direction have been fixed.
