During the trial yesterday, March 13, judge-chair Pham Luong Toan announced that judge Le Cong Huan could not continue to participate in the Trial Panel due to urgent work. Judge Doan Thi Huong Giang, an alternate judge, will replace judge Huan to continue to participate in the trial of the case.

At the same time, the chairman also reminded the lawyers that during the litigation process regarding the use of confidential documents, they must strictly comply with the regulations on the use of confidential documents. In case of violating the regulations and revealing state secrets, they must bear responsibility according to the law.

Truong My Lan agrees to hand over 649 assets to resolve SCB's problems

Previously, during the questioning session, many lawyers asked the defendants about Truong My Lan's role in SCB and the process of merging 3 banks to restructure SCB.

At the same time, defendant Truong My Lan and several other defendants were asked about the results of the valuation of some of Ms. Lan's assets by Hoang Quan Valuation Company (invited by SCB to re-evaluate at the request of the State Bank). Accordingly, defendant Lan requested the panel of judges to reconsider the valuation results of her assets in the case, which were much lower than the market price.

For example, for the Red Cape project, the valuation company valued it at 17,000 billion VND. However, in court, former SCB Deputy General Director Truong Khanh Hoang said that in 2020, this project had a market price of 60 to 80 million VND/ m2 .

Former SCB Deputy General Director Tran Thi My Dung also presented that the Mui Den Do project has an area of about 117 hectares, and has already compensated more than 90%. At the time of compensation, compensation was made according to market price. According to the defendant, that area multiplied by the market price would be worth about 70,000 billion VND, which is the actual value, not including legal procedures.

"When SCB approved a loan of 117,000 billion VND, it was not only based on the compensation value but also on the assessment of the project's development potential," defendant Dung stated.

In addition, defendant Dung further stated that, of the 1,166 asset codes of defendant Truong My Lan at SCB, Hoang Quan Valuation Company did not value 440 asset codes because the assets were shares, stocks; property rights, real estate without sufficient documents, property legality... were inappropriate.

According to defendant Dung, shares, stocks... are all valuable assets recorded in SCB's books. Therefore, defendant Tran Thi My Dung requested the panel of judges to consider and request the prosecution agencies to provide a list of assets not valued by Hoang Quan Valuation Company in the case, from which the defendant will present her views.

Defendant Truong My Lan and her accomplices were tried for violating lending regulations, causing losses to SCB of about 498,000 billion VND...
