Notably, the two daughters of VPBank's Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors registered to buy a large amount of shares in the context of the group of bank stocks in general and VPB skyrocketing. Of which, VPB had two consecutive ceiling price sessions this week and reached 36,550 VND. Compared to a month ago, VPB shares have nearly doubled. If trading at the current price, Ms. Thi and Ms. Ngan will spend a total of more than 1,460 billion VND to buy all 40 million registered shares.
Information supporting the recent increase in VPB shares comes from the initial public offering (IPO) of VPBankS Securities Company in the fourth quarter of 2025. VPBank currently owns 99.95% of VPBankS shares - a unit with a charter capital of VND 15,000 billion. The strong increase also brought VPBank's capitalization to nearly VND 290,000 billion (nearly USD 11 billion), for the first time entering the group of enterprises with a capitalization value exceeding the threshold of USD 10 billion on the Vietnamese stock exchange. VPBank's capitalization value also surpassed VietinBank and ranked 4th in the entire banking system.
However, in contrast to domestic investors, foreign investors continuously sold VPB shares. On August 20 alone, this group sold 15.4 million VPB shares worth VND533 billion. In the previous three sessions, foreign investors also withdrew VND550 billion.
