Hanoi has the largest number of students, accounting for about 1/10 of the total number of students in the country. Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this school year, the city continues to be the leading locality in the country in terms of educational scale. The whole city has more than 2,900 schools, nearly 2.3 million students and nearly 130,000 cadres, teachers and employees.

Preparing for the new school year, the city continues to invest in expanding the school network, increasing investment in facilities towards gradual consolidation, standardization and modernization, increasingly better meeting the learning needs of the capital's children and the requirements of human resource training in the new era.

According to calculations, Hanoi increases by an average of 40,000 - 50,000 students at all levels each year. Mr. Tran The Cuong said that among the 10 main tasks for the 2024 - 2025 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training identified the top priority task as reviewing and supplementing the planning for the development of the school and class network.
In the context of rapid population growth, the Department of Education and Training will strengthen consultation with the city to continue to effectively review, supplement, and re-plan the network of schools and classes to meet the standards and requirements of innovation in the general education program.

The city has reviewed land funds to urgently build more schools. This school year, Hanoi has 2 more high schools in operation. By 2025 - 2030, the whole city will have about 30 - 35 more public high schools. For example, Cau Giay District has allocated land funds and is building 3 more public high schools.
The Department will also strengthen its advice to the city to allocate sufficient resources for education; be persistent and determined in completely solving the lack of schools and classrooms in some localities, especially in central districts; pay attention to repairing and upgrading schools, toilet systems, trees, creating a green, clean, beautiful, safe and friendly pedagogical environment.

At the same time, according to Mr. Tran The Cuong, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training advised the city to direct the acceleration of the construction of schools meeting national standards, aiming to have 80-85% of schools meeting standards by 2025.
In particular, Hanoi will have 7 more modern advanced schools, from primary to high school, built in the near future. Currently, 4/7 units have been approved for investment, which will help densely populated districts with rapid urbanization have enough places for children to study.
