The Hanoi People's Committee has just approved the project to renovate and upgrade the left and right dykes of Bui and Day in Chuong My district.
Hanoi will upgrade and expand the dike surface to suit the current situation, combined with implementing flood prevention plans, ensuring convenient traffic on dike sections passing through residential areas.
Specifically, the city decided to upgrade, renovate and repair nearly 17km of the Bui River dike. Of which, the dike section with a breakwater wall has a total length of nearly 7km; the remaining dike sections have been renovated and the road surface repaired to ensure flood prevention.

The renovated and upgraded section of the Day right dike is more than 17km long (from Lam Dien commune to Luu Xa intersection in Hoa Chinh commune), with a road surface width of 5.5m.
The project to renovate and upgrade the left and right dykes of Bui and Day has a total investment of 460 billion VND, with a construction cost of more than 358 billion VND. The Hanoi People's Committee aims to complete the project by 2027. Chuong My district was assigned by the city as the project investor. Once completed, this is considered a flood prevention project for thousands of households living in the "flood center" of the capital.
For many years, people living along the Bui River (Chuong My district) have often suffered from flooding during the rainy season.
Since the beginning of the year, households here have experienced two long-term floods in July and September. During this period, many inter-village and inter-commune roads in Nam Phuong Tien commune, Chuong My district were submerged in water, with many places reaching the roofs. Prolonged flooding has negatively affected the health, lives and activities of thousands of people here.
