On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), on August 25, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam organized an exhibition of a collection of artistic ceramics with the theme "Love of ceramics and soil".
The exhibition introduces to the public a collection of 180 artifacts and ceramic products crafted and selected by artisan and collector Nguyen Duc Cong (Thien Duc Ceramics brand, Bat Trang commune, Hanoi ). The artifacts on display include many types, such as: vases, jars, urns, bronzes, etc.
All artifacts are restored or crafted in the style of ancient Vietnamese ceramics, representing the fine arts of historical periods from Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen. The works demonstrate the ingenuity, sophistication and soul of Bat Trang artisans, giving viewers a complete view of the tradition of Hanoi's long-standing ceramic village.
As for artisan Nguyen Duc Cong, he is one of the typical artisans of Bat Trang pottery. In addition to directly creating, he also owns a huge ceramic collection, including many antiques dating back hundreds of years. Artisan Nguyen Duc Cong is the founder of Thien Duc Ceramics Limited Liability Company, bringing Vietnamese ceramic products to the international market, contributing to affirming Bat Trang's position on the world cultural map.
Artisan Nguyen Duc Cong shared that he felt honored to introduce this ceramic collection to the public of the capital, so that through display and experience, the public will feel the quintessence of Bat Trang ceramic craft, and at the same time feel more proud and responsible in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage.
Another special thing is that Bat Trang is not only a pottery village but also a village of scholars, the birthplace of many great scholars whose names are listed on the Doctorate steles at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.
At the exhibition, the Organizing Committee also organized experiential activities such as sculpting, shaping, drawing patterns, and glazing. This is an opportunity for visitors to directly participate in the creative process, understand the patience and talent of the potter, thereby loving and appreciating the value of traditional crafts.
