On January 18, Hue City Police specifically informed about the prosecution of the case, the prosecution of the accused, and the temporary detention of Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University.

Previously, on December 26, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, former Deputy Head of the Postgraduate Training Department of the University of Education - Hue University, for the crime of "abusing position and power to appropriate property".

Through the investigation, Hue City Police determined that from 2020 - 2021, Nguyen Van Vinh and Mr. Le Anh Phuong (at that time, the Principal of the University of Education - Hue University) exceeded their duties, responsibilities, and powers to "appropriate property" of students with an amount of more than 2.6 billion VND.

Up to now, the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police has issued a decision to prosecute and arrest Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University. At the same time, they searched the workplace at Hue University and Mr. Phuong's private home in Hue City.

According to initial information, at that time, the two suspects were involved in the case of collecting illegal fees when opening foreign language certificate training courses. Currently, the investigation agency has not provided further details.

Hue City Police Department is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
