On June 16, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Luong Hong Linh - Chairman of Son Phong Ward People's Committee (Hoi An City, Quang Nam) said that he had invited the owner of the chicken rice restaurant that argued with tourists to work.
Previously, social media was abuzz with a clip of an argument between the owner of AH chicken rice restaurant (Hoi An City) and a customer. The clip received thousands of interactions, with many people expressing dissatisfaction with the rude behavior of the chicken rice restaurant owner.
Some people believe that a vendor swearing and being aggressive towards customers has unintentionally affected a famous tourist city that uses friendliness and hospitality as its destination brand like Hoi An.
Immediately upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Son Phong ward invited Ms. TTTH (owner of the chicken rice restaurant appearing in the clip) to verify the incident.
According to Ms. H.'s statement to the authorities, at noon on June 11, her husband, Mr. A., received a phone call from a customer who had booked a table for 12 people (customers from the North) and they made an appointment to come to the restaurant for dinner at 7:00 p.m. that same day. However, Mr. A. did not inform his wife to prepare.
At 7:30 p.m., the customer called again to ask how to order food, then Mr. A. remembered and turned on the speakerphone for Ms. H. to hear and find a solution.
At this time, Mrs. H. intended to blame her husband for not informing her in advance to prepare carefully when welcoming guests.
Ms. H. also told the customer on the phone that if they came late, the food would run out, but the restaurant still had 12 servings available.
At 7:40 p.m. the same day, a woman came to stand outside the restaurant and asked loudly. Because of her accent, Ms. H. could not hear clearly and mistook her for a passing customer. However, at this time, the restaurant had run out of food (except for the food prepared for the group of guests), so she just looked up and replied: Out of rice.
Due to this misunderstanding, the female customer yelled at the restaurant owner and an argument broke out. After that, the female customer threw a plate, pointed at the restaurant owner, and then went out of the restaurant to continue cursing.
Feeling angry, Mrs. H. spoke rudely to the customer. Seeing his wife and the customer arguing, Mr. A. took the initiative to apologize to the customer and take the blame. After that, the customer left the restaurant and did not eat anymore.
The chicken rice restaurant owner also admitted to saying rude things to the customer, but said that when the clip was released online, it was cut, lacking in content, and not objective.
After Ms. H. explained, Son Phong ward verified the people who witnessed the incident and extracted the camera at the chicken rice restaurant. However, it is still not possible to contact the tourist involved.
In the immediate future, the local government requires the owner of AH chicken rice restaurant to learn from experience in behavior and speech, not to be hot-tempered with customers, to preserve the image of Hoi An as a kind and gentle place.
