Solving the relationship between agriculture, farmers and rural areas is vital.

On October 12, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong met with a delegation of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the association's founding (2013-2023).

Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that the Party and State consider the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas as a strategic issue; the great achievements of the renovation cause, the country's foundation, position, prestige and potential today have important contributions from agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

The agricultural sector not only ensures domestic food security but also exports at a high value compared to other industries. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the country is facing many difficulties, agriculture, farmers, and rural areas are important pillars for the country to overcome difficulties, ensuring good implementation of social security policies.

Referring to the goal of making Vietnam a high-income developed country by 2045, President Vo Van Thuong suggested that the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development actively promote and mobilize farmers to strongly, substantially and comprehensively transform their thinking from self-sufficiency to large-scale production, in line with commodity production and the market economy ; and support farmers to become agricultural workers.

The President emphasized that resolving the relationship between agriculture, farmers, and rural areas is a vital issue for the country's development, and asked the General Assembly to contribute to resolving this relationship.
