World oil prices rebound

Early morning on August 21, 2025, Brent oil price reached 66.44 USD/barrel, up 0.74 USD (equivalent to 1.12%). WTI oil also increased 0.66 USD, to 62.45 USD/barrel. The increase appeared after the report of the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed that US crude oil inventories decreased by 2.42 million barrels.

UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo said the positive data helped the market regain momentum, but noted that price movements depended on the progress of peace talks in Ukraine.

Domestic gasoline prices

On the morning of August 21, retail gasoline prices in Vietnam remained unchanged from the August 15 adjustment period. E5 RON92 gasoline was at VND19,354/liter, RON95 at VND19,884/liter. Diesel oil decreased to VND18,077/liter, kerosene to VND18,020/liter, and fuel oil to VND15,268/kg.

During this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance continued not to set aside or spend the Price Stabilization Fund. The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the world market has been volatile in recent days due to the US-China tax policy, OPEC+'s plan to increase production, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Recent price trends

Since the beginning of the year, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 32 adjustments, with 13 decreases, 14 increases, and 5 opposite fluctuations. In the most recent period, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world has decreased slightly, creating room for retail price reductions in Vietnam.
