On the morning of August 17, rice prices in the Mekong Delta remained stable. Trading was slow due to limited end-of-season rice supplies, many traders and factories had stopped buying, causing prices to not fluctuate significantly.
Popular rice varieties remain at the same level: OM 18 and Nang Hoa 9 from 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 around 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg, OM 5451 from 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg, OM 308 and IR 50404 both fluctuate around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. In Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap or An Giang , the amount of rice imported is small, transactions are slow, prices remain stable.
Raw and finished rice prices also fluctuated little. OM 380 was around 8,300 - 8,400 VND/kg, IR 504 was from 8,450 - 8,550 VND/kg, CL 555 fluctuated from 8,650 - 8,750 VND/kg, OM 18 was up to 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg, finished rice IR 504 was stable at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.
By-products such as OM 504 fragrant rice bran fluctuate at 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg, bran is about 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg. Supply at warehouses is low, buying and selling transactions are slow.
In retail markets, rice prices continued to stagnate. Nang Nhen maintained the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai 22,000 VND/kg, and popular fragrant and white rice prices ranged from 13,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association, 5% broken rice was at $395 per ton, 25% broken rice was $371 per ton, and 100% broken rice was $339 per ton.
