Number of visitors increased by more than 18% compared to last year

On May 4, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the number of visitors to the capital increased compared to last year. Of which, there were 136,190 international tourists, an increase of 55.35% over the same period last year (international visitors with accommodation were estimated at 96,000) and 739,000 domestic tourists, an increase of 13.69% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 3.15 trillion VND, an increase of 25.21% over the same period in 2024.

According to data provided by some key tourist areas and spots in the capital, the number of tourists visiting destinations during the 4-day holiday from April 30 to May 3, 2025 was quite large. Specifically, Hanoi Zoo welcomed 88,430 visitors; Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam welcomed nearly 27,800 visitors; Hoa Lo Prison welcomed 35,000 visitors; Thang Long Imperial Citadel welcomed more than 30,000 visitors; Museum of Ethnology welcomed nearly 8,300 visitors.

The suburban areas of Hanoi also recorded a high increase in visitors. Typically, Hong Van tourist area (associated with the 2025 Love Festival) welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors; Bao Son Paradise tourist area welcomed 27,100 visitors; Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village welcomed about 22,000 visitors; Phu Dong tourist area (associated with the 2025 Giong Festival Week) welcomed over 20,000 visitors; Bat Trang tourist area welcomed 10,000 visitors; Ao Vua tourist area welcomed 10,129 visitors; Ba Vi National Park welcomed nearly 13,800 visitors; Duong Xa tourist area welcomed 6,200 visitors; destinations in Chuong My district welcomed 17,300 visitors; the ancient village relic in Duong Lam welcomed about 4,500 visitors....

Regarding hotel business, the High-end apartment area, 4-5 star hotel block room occupancy rate reached about 69.67%, up 9.27% ​​over the same period in 2024. Of which, Somerset Grand Hanoi apartment area 99%, Sofitel Legend Metrople hotel 88.3%, Fraser Suites hotel 88%, Apricot hotel 84%...

For shopping centers, shopping, entertainment and dining establishments serving tourists, the number of visitors and revenue increased during the 5-day holiday.

In general, tourist accommodation service businesses and services that meet tourist service standards in Hanoi have seriously implemented security, safety, fire prevention, food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation and the reporting and declaration of temporary residence and temporary absence regimes have been fully complied with by accommodation and service units according to regulations.

Attractive thanks to diverse activities

Joining in the atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), many thematic exhibition events and activities were held at tourist attractions attracting many visitors.

Notable events include: "Colors of Vietnamese ethnic culture" taking place from April 1 to May 4, 2025 and the event "Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day 2025" at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village.

A series of unique cultural activities in Hanoi's Old Quarter taking place from April 18 to the end of May 2025 will attract tourists, such as: At the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (50 Dao Duy Tu, Hoan Kiem), there will be activities displaying bamboo and rattan weaving with the theme "Made of Tre"; displaying art installations about Hang Bac craft street by artist The Son at Kim Ngan communal house; introducing Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft and organizing experiential workshops; photo exhibition with the theme "Memories and legends"; exhibition of propaganda paintings at the Center for Culture and Arts (22 Hang Buom, Hoan Kiem); exhibition "Discovering the history of Hoan Kiem Lake" at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Center, etc.

In the suburban areas, eco-tourism and relaxation products are also promoted to attract many tourists on this occasion.

Assessing tourism activities during the holiday, Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that tourism activities during the holiday were safe, high quality and attractive. Hanoi Department of Tourism has increased inspection and examination at tourist destinations.

“At the time of inspection, agencies, organizations and management units at tourist destinations focused on strengthening facilities, organizing the reception of tourists, ensuring security, order, traffic safety, environmental sanitation, and being ready to serve a large number of tourists during the holiday. Car, motorbike and bicycle parking is arranged in separate areas, minimizing traffic obstruction. There are no street vendors, beggars or solicitors for tourists,” said Ms. Dang Huong Giang.
