On May 28, information from the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province said that the province has sent a document requesting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to synthesize a report to the Prime Minister to approve the investment policy and investor of the specialized port of Long Son Iron and Steel Complex (phase 1), with a total capital of about 6,800 billion VND.
The purpose of building this specialized port is to serve the 53,500 billion VND steel factory project, with a capacity of 5.4 million tons/year (also in Lo Dieu village, Hoai My commune, Hoai Nhon town).

According to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the Long Son Iron and Steel Complex's specialized port (phase 1) has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee for investment by Long Son Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company. The port has a scale of 10 wharves/2,525 m, receiving ships of 250,000 DWT, cargo handling volume from 21 - 23 million tons/year; the port's usable area is 496.9 hectares, of which 23 hectares are inland, the remaining sea surface and 0.47 hectares of land are planned for protection forests.
Assessing the socio-economic efficiency of the specialized port project (phase 1) and Long Son Iron and Steel Complex, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province said that the project will create a new stage for the province in developing the marine economy associated with logistics, industrial development, supporting industry, and seaport services; creating momentum to promote the international maritime industry combined with the development of the export iron and steel industry, creating budget sources and jobs for the people...
The project is expected to create jobs for more than 7,500 people when completed, and contribute an estimated VND4,926 billion to the budget. When fully operational, the project will contribute about VND10,395 billion, contributing a total local product of over VND20,500 billion...
However, if the above project is implemented, the entire population of Lo Dieu village (Hoai My commune, Hoai Nhon town) with 566 households will have to relocate. In addition to the compensation, support and resettlement policy for people in the area affected by the project, the investor has proposed additional support from its own funds and not deducted from the land rent. This includes support when implementing compensation, site clearance, career conversion, job creation, etc.
In addition to the above-mentioned civil issues, there is an overlapping project area in the survey area, investment research for the offshore wind farm project in Hon Trau sea of PNE Group (Germany). Regarding this, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province said that the parties have agreed to reduce the overlapping area from the survey area of PNE's wind farm project...
