Comrade Tran Luu Quang was elected to the Secretariat.

The 13th Party Central Committee meeting today, January 23, elected comrade Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Central Economic Commission, as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat, according to a statement issued by the Party Central Committee Office the same afternoon.

Comrade Tran Luu Quang, 58 years old, from Tay Ninh province; Master of Public Administration, Mechanical Engineer; Member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat; Member of the 11th (alternate), 12th, 13th Party Central Committee; National Assembly Delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.

Comrade Tran Luu Quang has worked for a long time in Tay Ninh province, serving as Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Chairman of the District People's Committee, Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee; Permanent Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee; Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee.

In February 2019, he held the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and more than two years later was assigned by the Politburo to be Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.

In January 2023, at the second extraordinary session, the 15th National Assembly approved the appointment of comrade Tran Luu Quang to the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

In August 2024, he was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission until now.

The Secretariat consists of the General Secretary, a number of Politburo members assigned by the Politburo, and a number of Secretariat members elected by the Central Committee from among the members of the Central Committee. The Secretariat is the body that leads the daily work of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
