According to Kien Giang Department of Tourism, in the first quarter of 2025, Kien Giang is estimated to welcome more than 3.1 million visitors; nearly 480,000 international visitors and have total tourism revenue of more than 13,000 billion VND. Of which, Phu Quoc City welcomed more than 2 million visitors and about 474,000 international visitors, mainly visitors from the markets of Korea, China, Taiwan, Russia, Thailand, India, Mongolia, etc.

However, at this time, there is a shortage of high-quality human resources to serve international visitors in Phu Quoc. The locality needs to have a training program or appropriate incentive policy to attract and retain tourism human resources.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy - General Director of Vina Phu Quoc Tourism Company Limited, Permanent Vice President of Kien Giang Tourism Association - informed that there is a shortage of high-quality human resources serving Phu Quoc tourism.

Right now, Phu Quoc tourism businesses need to train their employees in foreign languages ​​(English, Chinese, Korean, Russian, etc.). This will help improve the quality of tourism resources and better serve tourists, especially high-end international tourists.

"We hope that schools will open more classes to train high-quality tourism human resources. Phu Quoc tourism businesses need to be trained, educated, and nurtured to improve their staff's skills, especially need to have appropriate remuneration policies to contribute to the development of Phu Quoc tourism," Mr. Huy emphasized.
