Peruvian Cuisine Week, organized by the Embassy of Peru in Vietnam in collaboration with the Asia-Europe Career Center and the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, aims to introduce and promote Peru's rich and diverse culinary culture to the Vietnamese people, taking place from October 24-29 in Hanoi.
Peruvian cuisine is a unique fusion of thousands of years of cuisines from many cultures including Inca, European (Spain, Italy, Germany), Asian (Japan, China) and African. With a diverse terrain, the ingredients used to prepare traditional Peruvian dishes are also extremely rich, from fresh seafood salads such as ceviche and tiradito in coastal areas, to dishes made with lamb; beef; pork cooked with potatoes and corn in the highlands, and finally dishes made with catfish and wild animals in the Amazon rainforest.
From 2012 to 2023, the World Travel Awards (the prestigious world travel awards considered the Oscars of the tourism industry) nominated Peru 10 times in the list of the world's leading culinary tourism destinations and honored Peru 9 times in the category of the leading culinary tourism destination in the South American region. In 2022, this South American country "won" the title of "world's leading culinary destination" for the 4th time.
