Ho Chi Minh City: 5 solutions for sustainable development

Speaking at the Green Vietnam Festival 2024, Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, affirmed that the city is steadfast in its goal of sustainable development based on three pillars: economy, society and environment. Accordingly, the management of natural resources and environment has always received special attention from the city's leaders.

Mr. Nhan said the city is actively converting waste treatment technology to waste incineration for electricity generation. By 2026, the urban domestic wastewater treatment rate will reach 67%.

At the same time, the city will effectively implement green transformation strategies, focusing on clean energy, circular economy and waste recycling.

To realize the sustainable development goals by 2030, the city will deploy 5 key solution groups.

The first is to promote communication on environmental protection and climate change response. The second is to perfect the policy mechanism to attract investment in the environmental sector, creating favorable conditions for investors to develop green technology.

Third, the city will improve management capacity, develop human resources and modernize infrastructure. Fourth, it will promote the application of high technology in production and business, pollution control and waste treatment, giving priority to green production enterprises.
