Born and raised in the heroic homeland of Quang Tri , after graduating from high school, Vu registered for the exam and was admitted to the Naval Academy. After 5 years of persistent study and training, in August 2021, Vu graduated and began working at Ship 361, Squadron 131, Brigade 172 (Navy Region 3). With a passion for learning and improving his qualifications and abilities, in June 2023, Vu participated in an English - Australian course at the Information Officer School and achieved excellent results with a B2 English certificate, ADFELPS 7.0.

After completing the ship officer training course at the Naval Academy, Doan Quang Nhat Vu was assigned to work at the Coast Guard Region 2 Command. As Deputy Captain of Ship 320, Vu always promoted a sense of responsibility, actively researched and studied. During his work at the unit, Vu realized that the contents related to the process of mobilizing ships in and out of the channel and docking at ports are always important issues for each ship officer. In fact, every year there is a potential risk of maritime accidents mainly due to the lack of knowledge about ship maneuvering, handling situations and the bravery of officers when mobilizing ships in complex conditions such as: dark night, avoiding collisions, narrow waterways, bad weather conditions...
Faced with that situation, Vu struggled to research and complete the topic: "Model of ship dispatching to port for type 205E ships". After being applied in the unit, the topic has supported commanders and agencies at all levels in evaluating the results and quality of training for ship officers in an objective and accurate manner; training fortitude, improving professional qualifications, key points in practice of dispatching and tone, style when dispatching; providing knowledge about ship dispatching, the influence of rudders and propellers on ships while they are at sea.

Captain Doan Quang Nhat Vu is a dedicated officer, with a passion for his work, and is innovative in the management, education , and training of soldiers. He actively participates in competitions and sports events organized by his superiors. In early 2025, in the competition for initiatives and teaching aid models, Doan Quang Nhat Vu won second prize at the regional level with the model "Exploiting and using 14.5 mm guns".
Commenting on Doan Quang Nhat Vu, Captain Hoang Van Chien, Captain of Ship 320 (Coast Guard Region 2) affirmed: "Captain Doan Quang Nhat Vu is a capable officer, with solid professional qualifications, scientific working style, always exemplary and responsible; a shining example for his comrades and teammates to follow."
When asked about his achievements, Captain Doan Quang Nhat Vu modestly said: "In addition to my own efforts, I always receive attention and help from commanders at all levels and the unit."
Through the conversation, we realized that the "secret" to Vu's success is to promote youth, love the profession, be attached to the unit, be enthusiastic in work, not be subjective or satisfied; always listen and learn from superiors, share experiences from comrades and teammates, closely combine theory with practice, theory with practice to improve himself more and more. Especially, he must always keep the "flame" of enthusiasm and passion for scientific research.
With his efforts to rise up and his "fire" of enthusiasm and responsibility, in 2025, Doan Quang Nhat Vu was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain ahead of schedule. This is a great source of encouragement and motivation for him to continue to "burn" himself with "fire" of enthusiasm to have more initiatives and topics to contribute to the overall development of the unit.
