On the afternoon of August 2, the leader of An Giang Provincial Police said that they were directing professional units to investigate and clarify the cause of the barge collapsing a floating house and fish cage on the Hau River, through My An 1 Hamlet, My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City (An Giang) in the early morning of the same day, causing great property damage.

According to initial information, at around 0:30 on August 2, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong (36 years old, residing in Vinh Loi commune, Chau Thanh district, An Giang) was driving barge with license plate CM-231.67 on the Hau river.

When reaching the section passing through My An 1 hamlet, My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city, the barge suddenly crashed into a floating house and 2 fish cages on the river of Mr. Dang Thien Phuc (45 years old, residing in My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city), causing an estimated damage of nearly 1 billion VND.

Working with the police, Mr. Cuong admitted that he did not have a certificate to operate a water vehicle and had consumed alcohol before driving.
