New "battlefield" in the global supply chain
Geopolitical fluctuations, US-China trade tensions and the wave of trade protectionism are creating a strong shift in the global supply chain. Multinational corporations are not only looking for new supply locations; they are also restructuring the entire value chain to optimize costs, minimize risks, and meet increasingly stringent environmental and origin standards from developed markets.
Vietnam - with its favorable geostrategic location, competitive labor costs and high trade openness - is becoming a potential link in the new supply chain. However, opportunities come with challenges. To capture this shift, businesses need to have solid internal capacity, flexible transformation capabilities, quality control and clear traceability.
Localization - A strategic problem of the manufacturing industry
One of the most stringent requirements today is the localization rate and origin standardization. Many industries, despite impressive export growth, still depend largely on imported components, leading to failure to meet the origin requirements to enjoy tax incentives from FTAs or avoid reciprocal tariffs.
The “2025 Import-Export Forum” with the theme “New Strategy in the Global Flow” will analyze in depth the key factors for enterprises to: Increase the localization rate in production; connect with domestic and regional supply chains; apply technology in supply chain management.
The discussion session will focus on answering the question “How can Vietnamese enterprises become strategic partners in the global supply chain?” from the perspective of leading experts such as Dr. Vo Tri Thanh - Director of the Institute for Brand Strategy and Competitiveness Research; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Fulbright University Vietnam and guests from international organizations, business associations, etc.
Program Overview - Insights from Two Discussion Sessions
The program includes 2 in-depth discussion sessions:
• Session 1 will focus on policy changes from the United States, affecting businesses and recommending adaptation strategies: From expanding new markets, controlling origin fraud, to transforming import-export models. Warnings about intermediate transmission, trade risk assessments and perspectives from international experts will be presented frankly.
• Session 2 expands the vision to the group of manufacturing enterprises - especially the Supporting Industry in seizing opportunities to deeply integrate into the global supply chain, take advantage of shifting investment capital flows, increase the localization rate and standardize origin criteria according to the requirements of multinational corporations.
One of the important highlights of the program is the live Q&A session between businesses and policy experts, market experts, representatives of industry associations and businesses. Businesses ask specific questions about their problems to receive practical suggestions right at the event. In particular, the shared content will not only stop at warnings; but also provide updated data and a recommendation system that can be applied immediately to each group of businesses.
The two dialogue sessions not only separate practical issues but also create a space for deep connection between the parties: enterprises - experts - management agencies - banks - industry associations.
