Yonhap news agency reported on March 28 that the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office in Jeonju City (southwestern South Korea) summoned former President Moon Jae-in for questioning last month as a suspect.

Accordingly, Mr. Moon and his daughter Moon Da-hye were accused of receiving bribes in the form of bonuses for Ms. Da-hye's ex-husband from the low-cost airline Thai Eastar Jet.
According to the allegations, former President Moon appointed former lawmaker Lee Sang-jik as head of the Korea Small Business and Startup Agency so that Moon's son-in-law Seo could get a director position in 2018 at Thai Eastar Jet, a company founded by Lee.
Prosecutors suspect Mr. Lee's appointment was in exchange for Mr. Seo's position at the airline, especially since Mr. Seo was considered inexperienced in the aviation industry at the time.
According to Yonhap, Moon Jae-in stopped providing financial support to his daughter’s family after Seo joined Thai Eastar Jet. Prosecutors consider the 223 million won ($160,000) salary and other benefits for Seo and Da-hye to be bribes to the former president.
A prosecutor said he was arranging a time to work with Mr Moon's legal team.
Prosecutors recently indicted Moon Da-hye on bribery charges in connection with the case, according to JoongAng Daily . The Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office confirmed the report, adding that the complaint was filed by a civic group to police in Seoul in 2024.
During the investigation, prosecutors indicted Moon Jae-in and former lawmaker Lee on bribery charges and summoned key figures in Moon's administration for investigation.
