(NLDO) – In the proposal of CT Group, the group will join hands with Chinese units to implement the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway project with a total investment of 9.98 billion USD.

On January 3, according to a source from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, CT Group has just sent a document to the Prime Minister proposing to implement the Mekong Delta high-speed railway project, which is the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line under the PPP method.

According to CT Group's proposal, the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway project is a double-track, 1,435 mm gauge, electrified, total length of about 174 km, including 12 stations, running both passenger and freight trains with a total investment of about 9.98 billion USD. The project passes through 6 provinces and cities: Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Tien Giang , Vinh Long and Can Tho City.

The route location of the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway project was previously implemented by the project consulting consortium.

CT Group plans to join hands with China Railway Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CRECG), China Power Construction Group International Engineering Corporation (Power China), China Railway No.2 Group, Southern Transport Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company (Tedi South) to form an investment joint venture called Mekong Delta High-Speed Railway Joint Venture (CMEX) to receive financial support packages for the project from the world's leading financial institutions such as: World Bank, China Construction Bank, National Bank of China, French Development Agency.

In addition to revenue from passenger and cargo transportation, CMEX plans to recoup its investment in the project by implementing urban development according to the Green TOD model.

Each station will be a modern construction with its own identity for each province with 5 different radii ranging from 500 - 10,000 m, starting from the commercial service belt within a radius of 500 m to residential areas, technology zones; logistics and high-tech agriculture in the direction of green urban areas, in sync with local development.

CT Group commits to completing the pre-feasibility study report in the first 6 months of 2024 for approval; at the same time, it commits to mobilizing maximum resources to complete the project before 2032.
