The Chi Thanh - Van Phong Expressway project passing through Phu Yen province has a total length of more than 48 km. The starting point is at the Chi Thanh intersection (in Chi Thanh town, Tuy An district), connecting with the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh Expressway. The end point is at the intersection with National Highway 1 (in Hoa Xuan Nam commune, Dong Hoa town), connecting with the northern access road to Deo Ca tunnel and the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway. The project has a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND, starting in early 2023 and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Many contractors of the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway are aware of their responsibility and have organized engineers and workers to work throughout the Lunar New Year to keep up with the project's progress.

At Km 47+600 (end of Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway), after many months of waiting for foundation loading, along with nearly 2 months of having to stop construction due to rain, Tu Lap Construction Company Limited mobilized the maximum construction force to undertake the entire route.
Engineer Nguyen Dinh Trung, Deputy Construction Manager of Tu Lap Contractor, said that the unit still maintained normal construction during the days leading up to Tet. This year's prolonged rains made construction difficult and had to be temporarily halted. Now, taking advantage of the favorable weather, even though Tet has arrived, the contractor has mobilized workers to stay and continue construction.
"We all happily stayed, considering this a common task and responsibility of the unit. Everyone saw that we had to sacrifice our personal happiness to make up for the days of unfavorable weather," said Mr. Trung.
At noon at the Hoa Tam Nut intersection (intersection with National Highway 1 at Km 43+536), machinery was still bustling with activity. On the two southern approaches to the intersection, road rollers were tirelessly deployed, and under the overpass, a line of trucks was still hurriedly carrying materials to fill the roadbed. At approach 2, a team of construction site supervision consultants was drilling to take samples to test the compaction of the roadbed.
According to Mr. Ngo Tien Ha, Deputy Director of Project Management, Central Construction Group, since the end of the year, the Group's staff and workers have determined the mindset of staying at the construction site to work through Tet. "Eating and staying on site at the construction site. All engineers, machine operators, and drivers are ready to work on duty, enjoy Spring on site, and work through Tet to make up for the past months of the rainy season," said Mr. Ha.
According to the report of Project Management Board 7 (project investor), the contractors have now processed more than 15 km of weak ground, reaching nearly 90%; the construction has filled K95 soil, reaching 71%; the crushed stone mixed with cement has reached 31%. There are many locations on the route that have been paved. The contractor has also constructed all 32 bridges, reaching 100% (of which the bridge deck construction has reached more than 94% of the spans)... the cumulative output to date has reached 5,527 billion VND, reaching nearly 69% of the contract value, nearly 1% faster than the project progress.
New Phong Chau bridge project to be completed soon
At the new Phong Chau bridge project - National Highway 32C in Phu Tho province, the contractor will maintain 5 construction sites throughout Tet as usual, ensuring completion of the project within 1 year from the commencement date.

The collapse of Phong Chau Bridge due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi in 2024 caused great damage to people and property, disrupting traffic on National Highway 32C. On the afternoon of December 21, 2024, the Ministry of Transport held a ceremony to launch the construction of the new Phong Chau Bridge. According to Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh, accelerating the progress of the Phong Chau Bridge construction investment is an urgent task of great importance. Therefore, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh have resolutely directed and requested the completion of the construction of the new Phong Chau Bridge according to the emergency construction order, putting the project into operation in 2025.
Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy General Director of Truong Son Construction Corporation (the construction unit), said that thanks to relatively good preparation at the beginning, the contractor has basically controlled the progress so far. According to Mr. Tuan Anh, some items that determine the project's progress such as: Dismantling the old Phong Chau bridge; construction of bored piles... have been going relatively smoothly, the contractor has controlled the situation, calculated the detailed construction time. Thanks to that, the project's construction output so far has exceeded the plan by about 15 days.
Also according to the leader of Truong Son Construction Corporation, in order to ensure the project's progress before December 22, 2025 as directed by the Government's leaders, the immediate goal is that before the small flood in 2025 (the type of flood caused by showers during the small flood season that occurs around the end of May every year), the foundation and the pier body must be able to overcome the water surface. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the contractor has planned to work through Tet.
"5 construction teams (2 teams to construct pillars T4, T5; 1 team to dismantle the old bridge, 1 team to build the approach bridge, 1 team to construct the embankment...) will be maintained as usual to speed up the implementation of the items" - Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh shared.
According to the approved plan, the new Phong Chau bridge project - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province is invested according to the emergency construction order with a total length of nearly 653 m. The starting point is at Km 0+00 (about Km 21+50.0 of National Highway 32C avoiding Viet Tri City), in Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province. The end point is at Km 0+652.88 (about Km 18+551.4 of National Highway 32C), in Van Xuan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province. The bridge is permanently built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a bridge width of 20.5 m, suitable for the width of the roadbed.
The total investment of the project is over 635 billion VND, using the central budget reserve. According to the plan, the project will be completed by the end of 2025.
