Also attending the meeting were representatives of leaders of a number of Departments and units under the Ethnic Committee. On the side of Kien Giang province, receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Luu Trung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Target Programs of Kien Giang province; Leaders of the Provincial Ethnic Committee and representatives of leaders of relevant Departments, branches, districts, towns and cities.

The report at the working session showed that, in recent times, Kien Giang province has focused on leading and directing the implementation of programs, projects and plans for socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas. For the National Target Program 1719, the province has established a Steering Committee for National Target Programs for the period 2021 - 2025 in the province, consisting of 52 members, headed by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and at the same time established a Working Group to implement the National Target Program 1719 headed by the Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee. In addition, Kien Giang province has also established a Steering Committee to implement Project 8 of the National Target Program 1719.

In 2022 - 2023, the capital plan to implement the National Target Program 1719 is allocated at VND 284,809 million. The effective implementation of projects of the National Target Program 1719 has contributed to socio-economic development in extremely difficult areas in the province's ethnic minority areas, thereby gradually improving the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities, and reducing the poverty rate.

In addition to the achieved results, the province still has some difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. In particular, because the province no longer has a district-level Ethnic Affairs Office since 2018, the lack of an intermediary agency from the province to the grassroots level has made the implementation of the National Target Program 1719 still confusing. The initial project preparation stage was still stuck. In addition, the land fund of the localities is almost gone, so the support for residential land is facing many difficulties. On the other hand, the current price of residential land is quite high compared to the level supported by the State, so the implementation process is difficult...

At the working session, members of the Working Group and delegates discussed many issues to continue to resolve difficulties of the province related to mechanisms, policies and obstacles in some specific projects and sub-projects.

Concluding the meeting, Minister and Chairman Hau A Lenh highly appreciated the advisory work of the Provincial Ethnic Committee, and at the same time commended the efforts of the locality to effectively implement the National Target Programs for the period 2021 - 2025 in the area. This is a process of direction, management, determination of the entire political system and consensus of the people.

“The above results have created positive changes in infrastructure investment, changing the face of rural areas, and increasing income for ethnic minority households,” Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Hau A Lenh emphasized.

Regarding solutions in the coming time, Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Hau A Lenh hopes that Kien Giang province will continue to strengthen advocacy and propaganda work; promptly handle and resolve arising issues; continue to do a good job of coordination between sectors and levels; maintain a regular reporting regime to exchange information between the Central and local levels... Minister and Chairman Hau A Lenh also suggested that Kien Giang province pay attention to planning and training ethnic minority cadres.

Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Hau A Lenh shared that the National Target Program 1719 focuses on a specific group of ethnic minorities living in the most difficult areas, so the province needs to base on the actual situation of the locality, review each project to deploy the right subjects, and promote effectiveness in practice.

Regarding the difficulties and problems of the province, the Minister and Chairman assigned the relevant Departments and units to fully synthesize. The Ethnic Committee received, consulted and resolved according to its authority.
