Minister of Education and Training donates more than 18,000 sets of books to students in disadvantaged areas of Gia Lai

On the morning of September 5, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son visited and worked in Gia Lai province.

During the working trip, Minister Nguyen Kim Son and the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) presented 18,722 sets of textbooks to poor students and those in difficult circumstances in the province with a total value of more than 6 billion VND.

Of these, 2,000 sets were under the program “Following you to school” and more than 16,000 sets of textbooks were under the program proposed by the National Assembly Delegation of Gia Lai province to be given to students in difficult circumstances outside the State budget. In addition, the Vietnam Education Publishing House also donated 15 shared bookcases including 1,920 sets of textbooks to schools in difficult areas of Gia Lai province.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that today's event is very special as the whole country is holding the opening ceremony to start the new school year. In particular, Gia Lai province is honored to welcome President Vo Van Thuong to attend the opening ceremony. Through that, the Education and Training sector feels the joyful atmosphere and the deep concern of the Party and State leaders and the whole society for the Education sector in general and Education in the provinces with many difficulties in ethnic minority areas, remote areas... in particular.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: “The Central Highlands region is a key area of ​​the country, but it is also an area with many unique characteristics, difficulties and challenges in terms of economy, society and education. In order for all students to go to school, ensuring facilities, enough teachers... in which the minimum and extremely important need is textbooks, many localities have had activities and initiatives to ensure that students have enough textbooks when they go to school. The 2023-2024 school year is a school year that continues to innovate, it can also be said that this is a key and central school year in the 2018 General Education Program.”

Minister Nguyen Kim Son hopes that the Gia Lai Province Education sector needs to make more efforts and pay special attention to Ethnic Education. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to arranging and planning the network of ethnic minority and boarding schools and mobilizing children to go to school. At the same time, it is necessary to take care of their lives, aspirations, and career guidance. Because this not only ensures social justice but also demonstrates the Party and State's concern for children of ethnic minorities.
