Storm No. 7 Yinxing has maintained its maximum level of 14, gusting to level 17 for more than a day since entering the East Sea, currently more than 400km from Hoang Sa. The storm is forecast to weaken rapidly when encountering cold air, and head towards the mainland of Quang Nam - Binh Dinh.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 10:00 a.m. this morning (November 9), the center of storm No. 7 Yinxing was located in the North East Sea, about 415 km northeast of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 14 (150-166 km/h), gusting to level 17. Moving in the West Northwest direction, speed about 15 km/h.
Thus, since storm Yinxing entered the East Sea, becoming storm number 7 in 2024 in the early morning of November 8, it has continuously maintained a maximum intensity of level 14, gusting to level 17.
In the next 24 hours, storm No. 7 will maintain its direction of movement at a speed of 10-15km/h. By 10am tomorrow morning (November 10), the storm's center will be in the northwest sea of the North East Sea, about 290km north of the Hoang Sa archipelago. Notably, the storm's intensity is showing a downward trend, remaining at level 12-13, with gusts of level 16.
The storm then changed direction to move southwest at a speed of about 10-15km/h, weakening rapidly. At 10am on November 11, the center of the storm was about 160km northwest of Hoang Sa archipelago; it continued to weaken to level 10, gusting to level 13.
Forecast, in the next 24 hours, storm No. 7 Yinxing will maintain its moving direction at 15km/h and gradually weaken into a tropical depression and then a low pressure area; at 10:00 a.m. on November 12, the center will be on land from Quang Nam to Binh Dinh provinces.
From the next 72 to 96 hours, the tropical depression moved in the southwest direction, traveling about 10km per hour and weakened into a low pressure area.
According to meteorological experts, today storm number 7 will maintain its strongest intensity, then gradually weaken due to the impact of cold air, dry air and low humidity.
It is forecasted that storm No. 7 will weaken as it approaches the shore, but people and relevant units still need to be on guard and not be subjective or negligent, even if the storm weakens into a tropical depression near the shore or even causes only light rain.
Due to the influence of storm No. 7, the weather in the North East Sea is strong wind level 8-11, near the storm center level 12-14, gust level 17, waves 4-6m high, near the center 7-9m, rough sea.
Ships operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the effects of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
