According to the People's Committee of Bac Tra My district, the road project to the center of Tra Bui commune (Route DH8, Tra Doc - Tra Bui section) with a total length of 28km was approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1566 dated August 25, 2019, with a total investment of 120 billion VND. The project started in February 2020 and will end in January 2023.

Up to now, nearly 2 years since the deadline for construction and installation as prescribed, the joint venture of Thanh Son Construction Company Limited - Thai Duong Construction Company Limited has only completed 36% of the volume, disbursing 42 billion VND.

Mr. Thai Hoang Vu - Chairman of Bac Tra My District People's Committee informed that the contractor has stopped all construction work on the project and agreed to terminate the construction contract. The reason why the project cannot be implemented as planned is due to the impact of prolonged rain and flood; sharp increase in raw material prices; terrain according to the current status of the approved design documents changed due to landslides. Notably, the human and material resources of the construction unit are weak, and construction methods are not reasonable according to the actual situation of the project.

In recent times, the road has been in a state of disarray, with exposed rocks and large potholes. Many sections have only had half of the road surface concreted, while the remaining surface is muddy and muddy, affecting traffic, especially during the rainy season.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dam - a resident of Tra Bui commune (Bac Tra My) said that DH8 is the only route to the center of Tra Bui commune, the construction unit slowed down and then stopped construction for a long time, making travel and transporting goods very difficult. Many sections were built haphazardly and have now been eroded after heavy rains.

Mr. Pham Son Trieu - Chairman of Tra Bui Commune People's Committee said that during the heavy rain from November 24-27, the DH8 road leading to the commune center had landslides at more than 10 points with more than 2,000m3 of rock and soil spilling onto the road surface. The most serious landslide was at Xa Ro peak, village 2 (Tra Bui commune). Over the past few days, the authorities have made efforts to restore traffic on the road.

According to Mr. Thai Hoang Vu, the Provincial People's Committee has issued Official Dispatch No. 6515 dated September 25, 2023 on resolving difficulties in the Road Project to the center of Tra Bui commune. Currently, the People's Committee of Bac Tra My district is directing the Project Management Board - District Land Fund to urgently implement the next procedures of the project and finalize the project termination. The remaining volume has been proposed to the Provincial People's Committee for permission to supplement the public investment plan for the period 2026-2030 with a total estimated investment of 100 billion VND.

“Tra Bui is a particularly difficult commune, an area of ethnic minorities being relocated to new residences to implement the Song Tranh 2 hydropower project. The People's Committee of Bac Tra My district proposes that the Provincial People's Council consider supplementing the provincial public investment plan for the project to upgrade DH8 road to help stabilize the lives of local people,” Mr. Vu suggested.
