According to data from the Department of Business Registration Management (Ministry of Planning and Investment), in August 2023, 14,047 new enterprises were registered with a registered capital of VND 135,298 billion. This figure increased by 17.9% in the number of enterprises and 3.9% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, the number of newly established enterprises was 103,658. According to the Department of Business Registration Management, this is the highest level in the first 8 months of the year so far. An increase of 2.3% over the same period in 2022, 1.2 times higher than the average level in the period 2018-2022 (89,899 enterprises).
However, the registered capital of newly established enterprises in these 8 months reached VND 969,618 billion, down 14.7% over the same period in 2022.
Of which, there were 1,666 foreign-invested enterprises with registered capital of 61,373 billion VND (converted to 2.59 billion USD), an increase of 66.1% in the number of foreign-invested enterprises and an increase of 104.2% in registered foreign investment capital compared to the same period last year.
The total registered capital added to the economy in the first 8 months of 2023 was VND 2,243,226 billion, down 38.3% over the same period in 2022.
Besides, in 8 months, the number of enterprises returning to operation was 45,742, down 5.0% over the same period in 2022, 1.4 times higher than the average level in the period 2018-2022 (31,929 enterprises).
The number of enterprises returning to operation increased the most in the fields of healthcare and social assistance (224 enterprises, up 15.5%); finance, banking and insurance (422 enterprises, up 9%); information and communications (923 enterprises, up 4.9%); real estate business (1,721 enterprises, up 2.2%)...
Also in the first 8 months of this year, 124,684 enterprises withdrew from the market, an increase of 19.5% over the same period in 2022.
Of these, the majority of enterprises choose to temporarily suspend business operations in the short term, accounting for 57.6%.
