More than 8,800 businesses returned to operation in December 2024, higher than the annual average.

According to updated information from the Department of Business Registration Management (Ministry of Planning and Investment) , the number of enterprises returning to operation in 2024 reached 76,179. Thus, on average, 6,348 enterprises returned to operation each month.

In 2024, the whole country will have 233,419 newly registered and returning businesses.

In December 2024 alone, 8,843 enterprises returned to operation nationwide, an increase of 14.8% compared to November 2024 and significantly higher than the average monthly level of the year.

Most likely, these businesses are planning to seize the opportunity in 2025.

The total number of enterprises returning to operation and newly registered in 2024 is 233,419. On average, 19,452 enterprises are newly established and returning to operation each month.

Assessing the situation, the Department of Business Registration Management said that although there were bright spots in the business registration situation in 2024, in general, the difficulties of the business community still existed, especially in the last months of the year. Previously, the trend was quite positive in the first 8 months of 2024 (except for the high number of businesses withdrawing from the market in January 2024, the remaining indicators were relatively positive).

The number of newly established enterprises in 2024 is 157,240 enterprises,   down 1.39% year-on-year in 2023.

The total registered capital added to the economy in 2024 will reach VND 3,572,886 billion (up 1.17% over the same period in 2023). The average registered capital per enterprise will reach VND 9.8 billion, equivalent to the same period in 2023.

Newly established enterprises are mostly small in scale (from 0 - 10 billion VND) with 145,464 enterprises (accounting for 92.5%, up 1.2% over the same period in 2023).

Of which, 118,840 enterprises in the service sector, accounting for 75.58% of the total number of newly established enterprises, decreased by 0.64% over the same period in 2023.

The industry and construction sector had 36,778 enterprises entering the market, accounting for 23.39% of the total number of newly established enterprises, down 3.42% over the same period in 2023.

The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector recorded 1,622 newly established enterprises, accounting for 1.03% of the total number of newly established enterprises, down 8.41% over the same period in 2023.

In 2024, 197,861 enterprises withdrew from the market. Of these, the majority were enterprises choosing to temporarily suspend business operations in the short term (accounting for 50.6%). In December alone, 26,418 enterprises withdrew from the market.
