4 airports expected to be affected by storm No. 2

On July 22, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam sent a telegram to relevant units to proactively prevent and respond to storm No. 2.

According to forecasts, in the next 24 hours, the storm will enter the sea area of ​​Quang Ninh and Hai Phong with strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10. The Civil Aviation Authority said that Van Don airport will be in the storm's area of ​​influence; Noi Bai, Cat Bi (Hai Phong) and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa) airports are expected to have thunderstorms.

To proactively respond to storms, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to direct meteorological service facilities to enhance the quality of meteorological information and continuously update warning bulletins.

Airports and airlines must closely monitor the developments of storm No. 2 to adjust flight plans accordingly; based on the actual situation, take necessary response actions, ensure flight safety, and protect people and property from natural disasters.

In addition, the Department also requested units to deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear water flows in airports, and protect works, vehicles, and equipment at the airport.

According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and the Weather Warning Center (MWO), at 7:00 a.m. on July 22, the storm center was on Hainan Island (China), about 270km from Van Don airport, about 310km from Cat Bi, the storm was at level 8-9, gusting to level 11.
