On the evening of May 17, the closing ceremony of the 2023 National Cheo, Tuong and Folk Opera Talent Competition took place in Thanh Hoa City. The competition was organized by the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa.

Taking place from May 6, the National Cheo, Tuong and Folk Opera Talent Competition has gone through 11 days and nights of performance and competition. The artists and actors participating in the competition have demonstrated their artistic talents, bringing to the audience many emotions, colorful perspectives and deep impressions not only about traditional stage art, but also many precious historical and cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people.

According to the assessment of the Professional Council, the most encouraging sign in this competition is that the artistic quality of the units is quite even. Each participating actor tried his best to perform his best. The model roles in traditional Cheo excerpts, such as: Thi Mau, Suy Van, Chau Long, Luu Binh, Tran Phuong, Ca Sut, Thi Phuong, Tuan Ty, Dao Hue, Teacher Truong Vien, Mu Quan, Lao Say..., have moral teachings, are lessons loaded with philosophy of life, shining examples of friendship, loyalty, family ethics, promoting filial piety, the desire for freedom, condemning, attacking, criticizing bad habits with satirical laughter, profound in the Cheo artistic language. Excerpts from traditional Tuong plays, such as: "Kim Lan Quan Deo", "Nu Tuong Dao Tam Xuan", "Chung Vo Diem", "Ho Nguyet Co Hoa Cao", "Lan Anh Lac De", "Phuong Co Qua Ai", "Nhi Khi Chu Du", "Moc Que Anh Offering Trees"..., are exploited based on narrative, dramatic, and emotional elements, as a basis for artists to perform, promoting basic elements such as Thanh - Sac - Thuc - Tinh - Khi - Than.

Besides the successes of the contests and excerpts that were invested in carefully in terms of script, staging, and skillful techniques of the artists and actors in singing and acting, some excerpts and contests have not been invested in or paid serious attention to. Some excerpts and contest entries, between the technical part, the orchestration, the singing and acting of the artists and actors, need to be staged more smoothly, skillfully and with more highlights, and need to increase excerpts that have high educational significance in terms of ideology, aesthetics, and are associated with national culture.

On the evening of May 17, the Organizing Committee awarded the Cheo Actor Talent Competition to 31 talented actors, including 17 first prizes and 14 second prizes. In particular, the Organizing Committee awarded an excellent prize to the singing instructor for the excerpt "Thi Mau goes to the pagoda" by actress Trinh Thi Thanh Huyen (Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema); an excellent prize to People's Artist Han Hai (Thanh Hoa Province Traditional Arts Theater) - who staged the excerpt creatively and effectively.

Previously, on the evening of May 11, the Organizing Committee awarded 8 First Prizes and 9 Second Prizes to artists; two Excellent Prizes to those who staged excerpts creatively and effectively and to those who guided the performance in the 2023 National Tuong and Folk Drama Actor Talent Competition.

The 2023 National Cheo, Tuong and Folk Opera Talent Competition attracted the participation of nearly 200 actors from 20 professional Cheo, Tuong and Folk Opera art units nationwide. Bac Giang: Nearly 30,000 synthetic drug pills discovered disguised in cakes and cosmetics
