Việt NamViệt Nam26/04/2024

The attention, leadership and direction of the Party Committees at all levels of Coc My commune have contributed to bringing the Party's resolutions closer to the people, creating consensus in implementing economic development tasks.

Vi Kem village (Coc My commune, Bat Xat district) is home to 64 households and nearly 300 people, of which 98% are Dao people. In 2023, the village welcomed joy when the poverty rate decreased sharply.

In 2022, the village had 19 poor households and 12 near-poor households, now there are 6 poor households and 3 near-poor households. This result not only reflects the efforts of the people here but also shows that the leadership of the Party Committee in economic development is on the right track and effective.

Mr. Dang Thanh Toan, Secretary of Vi Kem village Party cell

More than ten years ago, like many other rural areas in Coc My commune in particular and Bat Xat district in general, tissue banana trees began to appear in Vi Kem village. After a long time of planting in the locality, this crop did not bring economic efficiency as before, many areas were affected by pests and diseases, and were ineffective.

To carry out the task of leading the people to develop the economy, closely following the orientation of the commune and the actual situation in the village, the village Party Cell proposed a solution to encourage people to replace old crops with new crops of high economic value. In recent years, cinnamon has been the crop chosen with the hope of bringing opportunities to change people's lives. In 2023 alone, the village planted 20 hectares of cinnamon, bringing the total cinnamon area of the village to 200 hectares.

Secretary of the village Party cell Dang Thanh Toan said: The village Party cell develops plans, assigns tasks to party members, promotes propaganda to convey local policies and orientations to the people; propagates how to plant and care for trees. Along with that, the Party cell regularly monitors and evaluates the economic development situation in the village to promptly orient and remove difficulties.

In Na Lung village, in recent years, many new crops have appeared and are trusted and expected by the people to increase their income. These days, all over the land in the village, people are busy planting taro. Previously, this crop was only grown sporadically in some households to serve their family needs, but in the past 2 years, this agricultural product has had a good harvest, good price and has been widely grown in most households. Ms. Ly Thi Sen's family is one of them.

On the area where bananas and cassava were grown ineffectively, her family replaced them with taro. The price of this agricultural product fluctuates between 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, the market demand is high, demand exceeds supply. After the 2023 taro crop, Ms. Ly Thi Sen said her family will harvest 4 tons of taro, earning about 50 million VND.

Taro is an agricultural product that Coc My commune chose to develop into a local OCOP product and Na Lung village is a favorable location to form a production area.

To achieve this, the Na Lung village Party Cell has widely deployed to Party members and people, encouraging people to convert ineffective crop areas to taro cultivation. In 2023, the village will have 17 hectares of taro and in 2024 it is expected to increase to 20 hectares. In addition, the village Party Cell has determined to continue promoting the economic efficiency of other crops to increase people's income.

The Resolution of the 19th Congress of the Coc My Commune Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025, determined that in the local economic structure, agriculture, forestry and fishery account for the majority, at 52%; industry and handicrafts account for 20%; trade and services account for 28%. By 2025, the locality strives to increase the production value per hectare of cultivated land to 80 - 90 million VND and the average income to 55 - 60 million VND/person.

The policies and orientations of the Commune Party Committee are specified in the annual plan.

Mr. Bui Van Manh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Coc My commune.

Particularly in the field of agriculture and forestry, which is currently the main force in the economic structure, the Party Committee of the commune directs localities to continue to maintain and expand the production area of goods focusing on some main crops such as pineapple, banana, cinnamon, taro, etc.; attract businesses to invest in agricultural production. Villages develop forestry in a sustainable direction, improve the quality and economic efficiency of forests. Encourage people to introduce new crops and livestock, good quality, high economic value, suitable for local conditions into production. In livestock, promote the growth of livestock herds, and intensive aquaculture.

Coc My Commune chose "4 trees, 2 animals" as key economic development focus, including cinnamon (596 ha), pineapple (61.5 ha), banana (151 ha), taro (17 ha) and "2 animals" including horses and pigs.

The attention, leadership and direction of the Party Committees at all levels of Coc My commune have contributed to bringing the Party's resolution closer to the people, creating consensus in implementing economic development tasks, strengthening trust and arousing the rise and determination of the people of all ethnic groups in the locality to successfully implement the proposed resolution.
