U23 Vietnam scored 6 goals, coach Troussier's students admitted their finishing was poor

"We created many chances but only scored 6 goals. I think the problem is the finishing. Coach Philippe Troussier will fix this problem. He will also fix the movement and the final passes," said defender Ho Van Cuong.

U23 Vietnam beat U23 Guam 6-0 in the first match of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. However, this was a match where the home team should have won by a bigger margin. Even coach Troussier admitted that with the chances they had, U23 Vietnam could have scored 3-4 more goals.

According to this defender, the task of scoring goals is not only the responsibility of the strikers. In the U23 Vietnam squad, all positions share the responsibility of finding goals for the team, even defenders like Ho Van Cuong.

"Under coach Troussier, everyone can take on the role of scoring goals. From defenders to strikers, everyone trains to score goals and support defense. Everyone is in sync with each other for a common goal," said Ho Van Cuong.

Ho Van Cuong scored for U23 Vietnam in the match against U23 Guam.

In the second match, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Yemen. This match is pivotal and could open the door to the final round for U23 Vietnam. After defeating U23 Singapore 3-0, the West Asian team has shown that they are the most formidable opponent for the home team.

" We have not watched the video of U23 Yemen. The coach can show it to the team before the match. Right now, he is focusing on making adjustments for the players. We watched U23 Yemen play against U23 Singapore. They, like other teams in this tournament, are equally strong. We entered the match with a respectful attitude ," Van Cuong expressed.

The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Yemen will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 9 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).
