In 1999, after graduating from Vinhempich Military Technical College (now the Military Technical Officer School - Tran Dai Nghia University), Hoang Dinh Hinh was assigned to work at Brigade 40. Faced with the harsh climate conditions of the Central Highlands and the diverse technical equipment of the Brigade's vehicles and motorcycles, which had been used for many years and were quickly degraded and lacking uniformity, Hinh was very concerned and tried to find solutions to contribute to ensuring good techniques, overcoming difficulties in replacement and repair materials, serving the unit's training, mobility, and combat readiness.

There were nights when he stayed up all night, voluntarily working overtime on days off and holidays to find ways to solve technical problems arising from the unit's training, exercises, and long-distance marches. With a high sense of responsibility for his work, passion for research and creativity, Major Hoang Dinh Hinh had many initiatives to contribute to ensuring good technical standards for the unit's vehicles and motorbikes, typically initiatives such as: Road Traffic Law training course; BM-21 artillery electrical testing equipment; electrical system training model on military vehicles; equipment for testing and calibrating air pressure regulators for air compressor systems...

What is very valuable about Major Hoang Dinh Hinh is that he not only actively researches and innovates in his field of work, but when he sees his unit and soldiers encountering technical difficulties while performing their tasks, he always finds ways to overcome them. Major Hoang Dinh Hinh said: "Whenever I went with the unit to train, practice, and fire live ammunition, I saw that when deploying artillery positions, soldiers had to firmly plant stakes to fix the artillery legs, so when retrieving the artillery, it took a lot of time and effort to dig the ground and pull out the stakes. To reduce the soldiers' hardship and ensure the time to perform the task, I researched and successfully manufactured a device to pull out the fixed artillery stakes. The operating principle of this device is similar to a jack, with a clamp to pull up the stakes, helping soldiers to quickly recover the artillery, without much effort, and without the need for many people to operate. The initiative was applied in the artillery force of the 3rd Corps and a number of artillery units throughout the army".

With a spirit of active work, creativity, high responsibility, and excellent completion of tasks, Major Hoang Dinh Hinh was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter of the Army in 2020, received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense in 2017, and a Certificate of Merit from the 3rd Corps Command for achievements in scientific research, initiatives, and technical improvements...
