Located right at the foot of the majestic Ngoc Linh mountain, Tu Mo Rong is home to about 28,200 people; of which, the Xo Dang ethnic group accounts for over 95%. The Xo Dang people have lived on this land for generations and have many unique, diverse and rich cultural features.

The highlights are folk visual arts with typical communal house architecture; traditional crafts such as: weaving, brocade weaving, musical instrument making, statue carving; traditional musical instruments such as: gongs, Tơ Rưng, Ting Ning, Klông Put and folk songs and dances.

In order to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Xo Dang ethnic group, in recent years, Tu Mo Rong district has proactively collected, managed and promoted the cultural values ​​of the ethnic group. In particular, implementing Project 6, National Target Program 1719, the district has supported the activities of 06 traditional art troupes in Dak Ha commune, Tu Mo Rong commune, Te Xang commune, Dak Sao commune, Ngok Lay commune, Dak Na commune and supported the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural values ​​and supported the development of tourism in Pu Ta village, Mang Ri commune.

Mr. A Lien - Le Vang Village, Dak Na Commune, Tu Mo Rong District shared: Currently, the villagers still preserve many sets of gongs and traditional musical instruments of the Xo Dang people and recently the district has supported the village's gong and xoang team with traditional costumes of the Xo Dang people. With the support of the district, the villagers are very excited and always pay attention to preserving the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Tu Mo Rong district, said: In recent years, the district has effectively implemented the management, preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage values. Specifically, it has organized the restoration of the New Rice Festival and the Village Gate Making Ceremony; opened classes to teach traditional brocade weaving, making and performing traditional musical instruments; and classes to teach gongs and xoang to the younger generation. This has contributed to raising people's awareness in preserving the traditional culture of the nation.

With the attention of the local government, currently, the Xo Dang people in Tu Mo Rong district still preserve about 206 sets of gongs and many types of traditional musical instruments such as: T'rung, Ting ning, Klong put...; 86/86 villages have Rong houses, of which 51 are made entirely of traditional materials; 12 typical festivals with unique characteristics of the Xo Dang people and traditional folk songs are preserved; traditional crafts such as: weaving, making musical instruments, carving statues, blacksmithing, and brocade weaving are maintained and promoted.

Ms. Y HLang - Pu Ta village, Mang Ri commune, Tu Mo Rong district said: With the attention of the local government, the village has established a brocade weaving group with nearly 30 women participating. The establishment of the brocade weaving group has restored the traditional weaving profession of the Xo Dang people and has sold hundreds of brocade shirts, fabrics, hammocks, and loincloths to the market. Not only does it bring economic benefits, but it also preserves and passes on the traditional brocade weaving profession to future generations.

The work of preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage in recent times has contributed to raising awareness of self-preservation of traditional culture of the nation, meeting the cultural enjoyment needs of the Xo Dang community here.

Towards tourism development

Determining that tourism development is a direction that both preserves and maintains traditional cultural beauty, honors beautiful landscapes, and contributes to changing the appearance of each village and improving people's lives, Tu Mo Rong district has implemented many solutions to gradually build this place into a new, attractive and unique tourist destination.

Typically, Le Vang village, Dak Na commune has been invested by the district to develop community tourism. This is one of the villages that still preserves the unique architectural features of a Xo Dang village located on the banks of the Dak Na river, about 3 km from the Siu Puong waterfall tourist destination, along with the unique values ​​of nature and traditional culture, creating a highlight of Dak Na commune's tourism, attracting visitors to experience in recent years.

Mr. A Dum, Le Vang village, Dak Na commune, Tu Mo Rong district shared: The district chose the village as a community tourism destination, the villagers were very excited, in addition to preserving traditional cultural values, the villagers are renovating the village roads to be green - clean - beautiful and preserving the traditional terraced rice farming method to serve tourists. The villagers also hope to have more income from tourism activities.
