China issues yellow alert for heat and heavy rain

China has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures due to heatwaves in northern China, and a yellow alert for the risk of geological disasters due to heavy rains in Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi.

China's National Meteorological Center issued a yellow heat alert on June 26, predicting that severe heat waves will "scorch" many areas across the country.

According to the agency, daytime temperatures on June 27 in northern China, the middle reaches of the Yellow River and Huai River, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Sichuan Basin are expected to reach 35-36 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the average temperature in some areas in Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin could even exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

China's National Meteorological Center has advised people to limit outdoor activities when temperatures rise , and asked those who are forced to work outdoors to take necessary protective measures to avoid affecting their health.

China has a three-tiered, color-coded high-temperature weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning level, followed by orange and yellow.

Similarly, the country's geological disaster warning system is also coded with descending levels of red, orange and yellow.

On June 26, Chinese authorities also issued a yellow warning about the risk of geological disasters due to heavy rain in Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi.

The warning applies from 8pm on June 26 to 8pm on June 27. People have been advised to take precautions, especially in potentially dangerous areas./.
