The life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh has always been a source of inspiration for artists' creations. Through different painting styles and artistic techniques, each work of art reflects the artist's sincere love and admiration for Uncle Ho.
The exhibition introduces to the public 80 paintings including 59 oil and watercolor paintings by the late overseas Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly (1951-2024) and 21 propaganda paintings by artists from the Indochina College of Fine Arts, the Resistance Fine Arts Course and later generations.
The paintings by the late artist Dao Trong Ly were created in Thailand from 2018-2024. With the theme of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities, the works recreate his great journey, from the early days of finding a way to save the country to the heroic historical milestones.
The special feature of the works of artist Dao Trong Ly is the parallel depiction of an outstanding leader along with a simple man, full of love for the people in everyday life. Each work is the crystallization of the artist's deep love, expressed through a delicate painting language, based on historical documents.
In addition, with a special perspective through 21 propaganda paintings, most of which were created during the period 1969-1980, the image of President Ho Chi Minh became an endless source of inspiration, appearing throughout the works to celebrate the country's major holidays such as: National Day September 2, Uncle Ho's birthday May 19 and Southern Liberation Day April 30.
The propaganda paintings impress with their unique graphic genre, using concise, condensed visual language, basic and strong color tones when focusing on lines, when focusing on shapes, creating richness and liveliness for each work, conveying political messages but rich in aesthetics.
The exhibition is open until September 5.
